About the Opportunity A well-established and rapidly growing civil construction firm in Connecticut is seeking a skilled Estimator to support its expanding portfolio of public infrastructure projects. This is a unique opportunity to join a tight-knit, hands-on team where collaboration, accountability, and quality work are valued above all else. This role is based in Hartford County, CT, with occasional job site visits across the region.
Position Overview The Estimator will play a critical role in developing detailed cost estimates for large-scale DOT-related projects, including bridge rehabilitation, highway infrastructure, and structural demolition. You'll work closely with senior leadership and project teams to ensure competitive, accurate, and risk-aware bid submissions.
Qualifications: 5+ years of experience estimating
DOT civil construction
projects (bridges, structural concrete, and steel work) Proficiency with
HCSS Heavy Bid
or similar estimating software Strong understanding of take-offs, cost analysis, and risk modeling U.S. citizenship Valid drivers license
Responsibilities Review project plans and specifications to perform accurate quantity take-offs Solicit and analyze subcontractor and vendor pricing Prepare detailed cost estimates and assist in bid pricing strategy Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to ensure estimate alignment with construction means and methods Attend occasional pre-bid site visits or walkthroughs Manage estimates for multimillion-dollar projects, typically focusing on one major project at a time
Compensation & Benefits Salary Range: $120,000–$150,000+ (DOE) Performance-based annual raises PTO + Holidays Medical, Dental, Vision: Employer-paid coverage 401(k): Company match Company Vehicle: Provided
