Our nationally respected Cancer Center in the Atlanta Metro area is hiring an Advance Practice Hospital Medicine Provider (NP/PA-C Hospitalist) to join our team! The area of focus will be Hospital Medicine, Inpatient, Acute and Chronic Care.
This position is relocation allowance and sign-on bonus eligible!
Schedule: 3x12s; 7a-7p, 12-hour shifts with some weekends
Position overview: The Hospital Medicine Nurse Practitioner is a provider working under the supervision of a physician in the inpatient setting to manage acute and chronic medical conditions. Their role focuses on providing comprehensive patient care, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring continuity of care from admission to discharge.
Duties and responsibilities:
Provides appropriate patient care for patients with hematologic and oncologic malignancies to include recording patient medical history and physical assessment, developing therapeutic care plan, ordering diagnostic tests, interpreting test results, discharge planning and providing accurate medical record documentation.
Diagnoses and manage acute and chronic illnesses in hospitalized patients
Develop and implement treatment plans, including prescribing medications and ordering therapies
Performs or assists in routine laboratory, screening, therapeutic, diagnostic or patient care procedures
Educate patients in areas of procedures, pharmacology, self-management of side effects and available community resources
Provides symptom management for treatment related toxicities
Facilitates communication regarding goals of care including end of life decision making
Communicates with attending physician regarding plan of care and involves physician in clinical decision making of any issues that are outside the practitioners knowledge base or scope of practice
Collaborates and effectively communicates with referring physicians/clinicians and stakeholders
Demonstrates professional commitment through mandatory attendance at continuing education programs, independent reading, and other professional activities
Certifications and required experience: Board certification; MSN or Masters in PA-C studies; Experience in Hospital Medicine and oncology preferred
