Job Opportunity at State of Hawai'i

The State of Hawai'i is offering a job opportunity with a salary to be determined by the position description. The job is located on the Island of Maui. The immediate vacancies are located in Wailuku, Kahului; Maalaea, Kihei, and Wailea, and Lahaina. Salary is $3,266 to $4,139 per month (SR-08, Step C to I). Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors. Employees appointed to temporary positions may also gain membership in the civil service upon satisfactory completion of an initial probation period of at least six months. To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements: Basic Experience: Six (6) months of work experience which demonstrated knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and arithmetic; the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions; write simply and directly; and compare words and numbers quickly and accurately. Clerical Experience: One (1) year of work experience which involved the performance of a variety of clerical tasks and demonstrated knowledge of office practices and procedures, and the ability to carry out procedures in clerical work systems, and operate various kinds of office equipment and technologies. Supervisory Aptitude: Possession of Supervisory Aptitude is required for some positions. Supervisory Aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects of supervision. Keyboarding/Computer Skill: Some positions require keyboarding proficiency and/or the ability to use computers and word processing and/or other software applications. Driver's License: Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment. Special Requirements: Some positions require the ability to lift and carry items of various weights with or without reasonable accommodation.
