The Mechanic maintains all athletic department vehicles, tractors, utility vehicles, golf carts, mowing equipment, and small engine equipment, such as blowers, weed eaters, etc.

85% Maintains all athletic department vehicles, tractors, utility vehicles, golf carts, mowing equipment, and small engine equipment, such as blowers, weed eaters, etc. This includes major engine overhauls, transmission overhauls and other mechanical rebuilds as needed. Overhauls motor pool vehicles as well as large tractors, and field equipment. Duties also include, but are not limited to, preventative maintenance on motor pool and facility vehicles including replacing worn parts, oil changes, lubrications, filter and hose changes, tire repairs, etc.

10% Building and stadium repair and maintenance that require mechanical repairs.

5% Daily and weekly inspections of motor pool vehicles upon return from trips to insure no repairs are needed and prepare vehicle for next trip out; Advances and supports LSU and Athletics Department initiatives through personal participation in educational and developmental opportunities, as well as participation in the transformational culture consistent with the values of LSU and its Athletics Department; Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
MECHANIC 1

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of experience or training as a mechanic.

SPECIAL OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to work extended days and weekends as needed. Must possess a valid Class "E" driver's license; Due to the nature of the position and /or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University PS-67. In accordance with University PS-18, this position is considered essential and may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of emergency or closure. The job duties require an employee to move heavy objects, bend for extended periods, and bend or stoop in confined spaces.; Due to the position's physical requirements, a pre-employment physical examination will be required per FASOP: HR-04.
