Part-Time PHP/WordPress Support Engineer (Remote, 10-15 hrs/week)
We're looking for a dependable PHP/WordPress engineer to handle day-to-day support tickets and lightweight development. You'll help offload our Principal Engineer, so we need someone who can jump in, own issues end-to-end, and work with minimal ramp-up. Hours & Location
Remote
10-15 hours per week
Maintain a consistent weekly schedule with some overlap for status updates
Responsibilities
Triage, prioritize, and resolve incoming support tickets
Fix bugs and implement small enhancements in
PHP
applications
Provide
WordPress
maintenance (updates, plugins, themes, troubleshooting)
Set up/maintain staging environments; perform basic QA before handoff
Escalate complex issues with clear notes and reproduction steps
Keep documentation, runbooks, and workflows up to date
Communicate status/ETAs and close out tickets with concise summaries
Qualifications
Solid hands-on experience with
PHP
Strong
WordPress
familiarity (setup, plugins, themes, common pitfalls)
Comfortable troubleshooting independently with minimal oversight
Clear written communication and reliable availability within agreed hours
Version control familiarity ( Git )
Nice to Have
Basic
JavaScript/HTML/CSS
and/or
MySQL
skills
Experience with ticket-driven support (e.g., Jira, Zendesk)
Comfort with common hosting panels/CLI, performance and security basics
Prior freelance/part-time or managed support experience
