The Licensed Surveyor is responsible for conducting land surveys to support Barrett Paving Materials’ construction and paving projects. The role ensures all measurements, boundaries, and topographical data are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with regulatory standards.
*Main Responsibilities*
* Perform detailed boundary, topographic, and construction site surveys using GPS, total stations, and related equipment. * Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field staff to provide accurate site data for layout and project planning. * Analyze survey data and prepare reports, plats, maps, and project documentation. * Verify property boundaries and ensure construction activities remain within legal limits. * Manage survey crews, provide training, and oversee proper use of equipment. * Interpret engineering plans and assist with layout, staking, and quality control. * Maintain field notes, logs, and digital records in accordance with company and state standards. * Ensure all surveying activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations. * Troubleshoot site challenges and provide timely solutions. * Communicate effectively with stakeholders and represent Barrett Paving Materials in a professional manner.
*Qualifications*
* Professional Surveyor License (state-specific, active and in good standing). * Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred. * Minimum 3 years of field surveying experience, ideally in road construction or heavy civil projects. * Proficiency in survey instruments, GPS systems, and CAD/software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble, or similar). * Strong analytical skills with attention to detail. * Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. * Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
