Overview
The Clinical Laboratory Technical Consultant provides technical and scientific oversight of one or more specialties within the hospital laboratory, including instrument and test evaluations and validations. They work closely with laboratory staff, leaders, and quality assurance in bringing on new technology and testing. Base pay range
$38.00/hr - $59.00/hr Responsibilities
Establish and ensure that acceptable standard operating procedures inclusive of a Quality Control Program and a Quality Assessment Plan are in place and followed according to all CLIA and CAP guidelines. Support the supervisor with personnel duties within the technical area, such as event investigations, root cause analysis, training, and competency assessment. Maintain their bench competency and work bench shifts and take call, as required by site. May also attend or be selected to lead system Work Groups, supporting standardization initiatives within Laboratory Services. Works with the Medical Director and Quality Assurance Coordinator to establish parameters for acceptable performance and monitors to ensure compliance. Ensures successful participation in external proficiency surveys, completing survey corrective action reports and submitting to the QA Coordinator and Medical Director. Skills

Bachelor's degree in laboratory, physical, chemical or biological science obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified. Five years clinical laboratory experience. Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in laboratory, physical, chemical or biological science obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified. PhD in molecular biology obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified. Experience in Infectious Disease testing by Molecular techniques and also Oncology experience. Knowledge of validations of Lab Developed Tests and verifications of IVD assays. ASCP or equivalent certification Physical Requirements
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs. Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate supplies and equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc. For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
