The Packaging Utility operator will be able to operate and adjust all equipment in multiple packaging areas; monitors line flow and waste; corrects problems which affect quality and production costs; makes line changes as directed by the Production / Package Lead or Team Leader safely and efficiently. The Packaging Utility will be willing and able to seamlessly change positions between current qualified jobs to meet plant needs on their respective shift. Packaging Specialists will be asked and expected to bid for certain positions based on plant need. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Commit to one year minimum in the position from the date you are qualified for the first position and one year from any subsequent positions they are qualified for. During the one-year commitment you may not bid on any single non-interest bid position, beyond the one year the regular bid policy will be followed. Holding the Packaging Utility position does not result in any specific job rights for the job you are qualified to back up. An employee holding the Packaging Utility position who moves to a different position may be required to work in any of the positions they are qualified in for a period of one year after bidding out. Upon successful completion of the prescribed training period, the employee will perform various duties as assigned by the plant management which may include any position within the qualified production area. A Packaging Utility Operator will be required to be trained/qualified in all positions across the following groups: Attendant Dry Supply, ATL Operator, Packaging Operator, Tote Dump Operator, Palletizer Operator, Sorter Operator. The Packaging Utility position is designed to have associates trained/qualified to fill in on shift and for overtime where absences create a need for coverage. When a Packaging Utility Team Member is trained/qualified in more than one job that needs to be covered at the same time, the company will determine the priority as to which position to cover using the Packaging Utility Operator employee. Should a Packaging Utility Team Member who is training, not be able to meet the job qualification standards for the positions required, the process will be followed as set forth in the handbook section covering Training, Pulling a Bid, and Disqualification and training will be discontinued. Packaging Utilities will be included in the overtime rotation for the positions they are qualified for. If there is an absence that requires overtime from within that group of employees, the Packaging Utility Operator employee will be considered by seniority following the scheduling practices. The Packaging Utility will be trained on set positions and for shift preference purposes will be eligible to move shifts only with those Packaging Utility Operator that can cover the same positions (i.e., an employee is trained to cover the ATL Operator and Package Operator positions. That employee may only bump within the group of Packaging Utility Operator operators trained for those positions). The Packaging Utility Operator may be required to work any shift temporarily (generally not to exceed 3 months) where they are needed for coverage. Be an integral part of our Continuous Improvement efforts surrounding these systems. Always maintains safe work practices and participates in safety programs and assures that safe work practices are followed in all work groups. Must have the ability to communicate and work with other hourly associates and salaried personnel in a positive manner. Learn and perform routine checks such as CIL's and FSIL's. Reads, writes, and communicates in English by using prints, sketches, diagrams, operating instructions, and technical manuals. Other Job Functions:
Maintains 5S in areas assigned and working. Must be able to learn and demonstrate safe use and skilled application of tools, commonly used in this plant, in accordance with established practices and procedures. Learns and performs frequent housekeeping to insure safe and clean conditions in all areas of responsibility. Supports and promotes CPS programs, such as 5S and Center lining throughout plant. Must be able to work any shift, overtime and any or all days of the week in accordance with plant needs. Basic & Preferred Qualifications

F 50% - There are 2 levels within the plant plus the roof that must be accessed. High catwalks:
F 60% - Access to the equipment is gained through the use of catwalks. Ladders:
F 10% - Where there are no catwalks, ladders are used for access. Climb / balance:
S 25% of the time on equipment by ascending and descending stairways, catwalks, ladder, and work at heights up to 30 feet. Stoop / bend:
