Bus Driver - Parks And Recreation
The City of Boise is hiring a Bus Driver to support community recreation programs by providing safe and reliable transportation. In this part-time role, you will transport passengers of all ages to and from outdoor programs, playcamp locations, and other assigned activities. You'll ensure the safety of all riders while maintaining scheduled pick-up and drop-off times. This position is open to individuals 19 years of age or older who hold a Class B CDL with Air Brake Endorsement. The role offers up to 19 hours per week and is designated as At-Will employment. Essential Functions: Provides transportation for all ages to and from outdoor programs, playcamp locations, and other recreation activities as assigned. Ensures safety of all passengers while being transported. Adheres to scheduled pick up and drop off times. Performs basic safety inspection of vehicle to ensure it is safe to operate. Performs routine cleaning inside vehicle. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements: Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training: Valid Class B CDL with Air Brake endorsement with two years bus driving experience. Knowledge of bus safety practices and relevant rules and regulations related to a Class B CDL. Ability to safely operate bus with children and staff aboard, navigate to various areas of the city, display an attitude of cooperation, communicate effectively in English, complete assignments in a timely fashion, understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations, maintain prompt and regular attendance, and perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned. Licensing And Other Requirements: Valid Class B CDL with Air Brake endorsement. Applicants must be able to pass City of Boise background check processes, driving record check, and drug free workplace requirements. Persons in this position must have a CDL that can handle a vehicle designed to transport 16 or more passengers, including the driver. Working Conditions: Physical Effort Characteristics: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is rarely lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds and rarely pushing/pulling up to 35 pounds. The noise level is occasionally moderate and rarely loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, reach, grasp, climb, and balance. Position requires hand/finger dexterity. Working Environment: The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position. Work includes protected exposure to bodily fluids and chemicals. This position works holidays, evenings, and weekends as required.
