This job includes a combination of tasks involving but not limited to: pruning, thinning, spraying, mowing, trellising, repair and maintenance of farm buildings and fences, planting, weeding, shoveling harvesting, (packing cranberries). The crops include apples, grapes, pumpkins, aronia berries, blueberries, and cranberries. Workers will lift approximately 50 pounds sometimes while on a ladder up to 16 feet tall. Workers will carefully harvest only the correct size and color fruit or vegetable. The crew manager will explain the minimum size and percentage of color for quality standards each day along with consistently monitoring bruising which must be less than 5%. Work is outdoors in various weather conditions; hot, cold, wet, etc. One month agricultural work experience including, harvesting any of these crops required. This job is best suited to fast/careful individuals. Some apple harvest will be conducted without ladders or picking drops. Harvesting Honey Crisp and carefully clipping the stems is at the highest rate. Quality standards are expected to be met after 1/2-day training. Production standards 8 bushel per hour. Training will increase daily, 50% (4bu/hr), to 75% (6bu/hr), to 100% (8bu/hr) by the third day. Clipped Honeycrisp standards: 6bu/hr; Day 1 will harvest 3bu/hr, Day 2, 5bu/hr, Day 3, 6bu/hr. The crew manager will explain the minimum size and percentage of color for standards each day along with consistently monitoring bruising which must be less than 5%. May drive and operate equipment. Applicants must have a valid driver's license to operate registered vehicles. At least $18.83 per hour. All applicable state and federal taxes required will be withheld. The employer will deduct a fully refundable house damage deposit from employee's payroll starting with the 2nd full week of employment @ $50 per week times 4 weeks for a total of $200.
