As soon as possible PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To plan, implement, and continually monitor LENA Start groups organized within Mesquite ISD. This individual will also support other programs and opportunities offered through the district's ReadPlayTalk initiative and works closely with Read Play Talk staff. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:

High school diploma or equivalent SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Overall computer skills for both PC and Macintosh Extensive knowledge of various software and desktop publishing packages, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, QuarkXPress, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Dreamweaver, and Adobe Acrobat. General knowledge of Mesquite ISD's ReadPlayTalk initiative, LENA Start program, and other district programs. Overall excellent communication skills, public relations, and interpersonal skills. EXPERIENCE:

Successful experience in related area. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Work closely with MISD Community Liaison and other ReadPlayTalk staff. Communicate with staff from the LENA Foundation on program progress, updates, and changes. Work closely with LENA Start coordinators on MISD campuses. Provide training for all LENA Start coordinators. Provide on-site support for all LENA Start groups. Recruit families to participate in LENA Start through relationships with schools, businesses, nonprofits, and other community groups and organizations. Implement LENA Start groups year-round at the campus and district level. Teach LENA Start groups in English and Spanish. Manage and inventory all LENA supplies and materials on a regular basis. Communicate with interested families in English and Spanish via phone and email. Document daily travel and times. Order supplies needed for LENA Start groups. Manage all groups' details in LENA Online. Communicate information regarding LENA Start to campus administration and teachers. Track LENA Start data and growth for campuses and the district. Update and manage LENA Start social media pages. Work closely with MISD Communications department to create and update LENA Start recruitment materials. Maintain relationships with early childcare partners. Visit and speak at various public meetings and events, including but not limited to, PTA meetings, administration meetings, community functions, etc. Assist in the planning and implementation of family engagement opportunities. Assist at ReadPlayTalk events and activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Provide assistance and support for campus LENA Start groups, including providing on-site training before the program begins as well as attendance at the group's first session. Attend each group at least three times during the program to provide support and monitor the overall structure of the coordinator(s) and group.

Interpreting a variety of instructions and materials furnished in written, oral, diagam, and/or schedule form. Presenting information written form clearly and effectively. Organizing details for multiple LENA Start groups. Physical demands/environmental factors:

Sitting fequently at a computer terminal. Moderate noise level in the work environment. Repeating the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times. Frequently typing. Meeting deadlines with time constraints. Viewing close work at the computer and/or typed or handwritten material; editing on a regular basis. Occasional heavy lifting of between 20 (or more) pounds. Long periods of standing and/or walking required. Driving to various locations of business, classes, and meetings in city of Mesquite and surrounding communities.
