Establishes and maintains a classroom environment that engages students and fosters a culture for learning. Maintains professional certifications in accordance with state law and School Code.

Essential Functions/Duties:
Plans and prepares effective instruction based on comprehensive knowledge of students, including:
- Selects clear instructional outcomes aligned to curricular sequence and suitable for diverse learners
- Designs coherent instruction using appropriate activities, materials and resources and student grouping, meeting individual needs as necessary
- Designs formative and summative student assessments that are aligned to instructional outcomes and curriculum standards and that can be used to make instructional decisions
- Establishes clear expectations for procedures and behavior
- Managing all classroom procedures
- Managing student behavior
- Organizing physical space within the classroom
- Communication with students that includes expectations, directions and procedures and explanation of content
- Effective use of questioning and discussion techniques that drive student participation
- Engaging students in their own learning by attending to appropriate activities and assignments; effective and varied grouping of students; use of available instructional resources; and appropriate structure and pacing
- Reflects on individual performance as a professional educator and articulates plans for professional development
- Maintains accurate records on student progress and other areas as required by the District
- Communicates with families regarding individual student progress and engages families in the instructional program
- Grows and develops professionally through engagement in a professional community
- Exemplifies professionalism and models commonly held values of the District through integrity, ethical personal conduct and service to students

Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Training: Bachelor's Degree

Physical and Mental Job Requirements:
- Physically active, standing and walking for extended periods of time
- Occasional bending, crouching, stooping, twisting, reaching and grasping
- Some lifting, up to 25 pounds
- Able to receive and deliver detailed information through written and oral communications
- Manual dexterity and repetitive movement of fingers and hands for keyboarding
- Typically sits for sustained periods of time at a desk and/or computer
- Typically requires close visual acuity involved with preparing and analyzing data, viewing a computer screen and extensive reading
- Able to function at a high level in a fast paced work environment
- Able to work 1-on-1, in small groups and in large groups of students and colleagues
- Able to observe and manage students in multiple school settings
Working Conditions:
- School setting, including offices, classrooms, labs, hallways, cafeteria, library and school grounds
Terms of Employment:
- 190 Days, Full-Time Position
- Seven and one-half hours per day with a thirty minute unpaid lunch break
