The Substitute School Cafeteria Assistant fills in for absent employees, assisting in preparing and serving meals, supporting kitchen duties, and working independently in a fast-paced environment. The work location varies by school need. Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; two years of related work experience may substitute. Proficient in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication). Attend the four-hour ASD Serving It Safe food safety course and pass the exam within 21 days of hire. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with a touch screen point of sale system and cashiering practices. Previous food service experience. Essential Job Functions

Assist in food preparation, cooking, heating, and filling meal orders. Work independently in a fast-paced environment. Sort and store food deliveries, report shortages. Assist with inventory and record-keeping, prepare reports. Operate point of sale system, handle cash, and manage daily receivables. Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, counters, and floors. Transfer trays, containers, and food items as needed. Maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and the public. Physical and Mental Demands

Frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, hearing, and visual tasks. Ability to lift less than 40 lbs. Handle conflict, make decisions under pressure, and manage stress in a diverse environment. Work Environment
