Asset Protection Specialist Investigator

PURPOSE:
The Asset Protection Specialist will conduct surveillances and investigations into internal theft/fraud and/or vendor fraud as directed by District Asset Protection Manager. This position will be responsible for monitoring reports to identify internal or vendor theft/fraud. The Asset Protection Specialist will witness or conduct associate interviews as directed, appearing in court as needed
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Job Responsibilities
Be a CCTV expert; conduct surveillances, document unusual activity, gather patterns on potential internal theft/fraud situations.
At direction of DAPM, conduct investigations into suspected theft, fraud. Conduct general loss interviews, vendor surveillances, cash over/short investigations as needed.
Work closely with AP auditor and AP ORC Investigator to determine any internal connections to external crimes or to vendor crimes.
At the conclusion of an investigation, properly document all steps taken in the case reporting system; prepare video and documentary evidence sufficient for law enforcement and later for any court proceedings.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience: High school diploma or equivalent
Wicklander/Zulawski Interviewing and Interrogation certification preferred
LP Foundation LPQ or LPC certification preferred Experience:
2 years of Asset Protection experience preferred
Familiarity with CCTV system operation
Experience with case report writing preferred
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities: Well organized
Creative and self-motivated
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Skilled with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/DEMANDS: Travel 30% - 50% required, occasional over-night trips.
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday.
Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
