Junior Skating Instructor

The Junior Skating Instructor is responsible for helping to teach Skating or Off-Ice skills in a group session. This role also supports company/facility events and promotes The Rinks and Great Park Ice while embodying the company's values and mission. Responsibilities Assist instruction of group classes in various formats including our Learn-to-Skate Program, Off-Ice Program, Roller Skate Program, Home School Program, community classes, facility and company sponsored events, figure skating camps, etc. Follow the facility's Learn-to-Skate curriculum (based on U.S. Figure Skating's "Learn to Skate USA" model), Roller Skating Curriculum and/or Off-Ice Curriculum and agree to attend PowerPlay sessions if assisting Academy, LTS, Roller, Off-Ice or other Group Classes Assist in the production and promotion of facility shows and competitions Provide positive, constructive feedback when evaluating skaters/participants Maintain a professional and ethical approach to growing clientele. Must strictly maintain professional communication at all times with Parents, Skaters, other Coaches, Operations staff and Management Meet all company standards and comply with instructor guidelines and requirements, including: For On-Ice: U.S. Figure Skating / LTS USA Skating Instructor Membership/Compliance and Code of Ethics for U.S. Figure Skating and Professional Skaters Association For Roller: USA Roller Sports Coach Membership Interact with customers in a welcoming and professional manner while promoting The Rinks' values Communicate facility and company program information to guests and support the company's pursuit of excellence in all areas of figure skating, hockey, and recreational skating Assist Skating Instructors to provide recommendations for skater advancement through the programs offered in The Rinks facilities Other Duties as assigned Skills Experience in the sport of figure skating, roller skating, off-ice discipline, including competitive history, show experience and/or coaching experience Comprehensive knowledge of discipline of choice: For Ice Skating: U.S. Figure Skating, Learn to Skate USA and the Professional Skaters Association For Roller Skating: USA Roller Sports (USARS) Actively pursuing education opportunities within the sport For Junior Skating Instructors assisting with On-Ice classes (does not teach private lessons): Has current LTS USA Instructor Membership and completed all of its requirements For LTS Junior Skating Associates must have completed a Learn To Skate USA Workshop within a set timeframe (to be discussed at time of hire) Present a consistent, professional, motivating, and enthusiastic teaching style and able to direct a class efficiently using time management skills. Able to maintain accurate records Passionate about growing the sport of figure skating, roller skating or Off-Ice (ex: Ballet, Strength & Conditioning) discipline and involved in the growth of the sport Must possess outstanding interpersonal and communication (verbal & written) skills, including enjoying interacting with guests and creating a welcoming environment for skaters. Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals with varied personalities and at different levels High School Diploma/GED preferred but not required Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, early mornings, and evenings as needed Possesses the ability to communicate The Rinks vision and commitment to quality service, products, and entertainment. Is a service-minded, self-starter who is highly motivated and possesses characteristics of energy, enthusiasm, assertiveness, drive, and a sense of fun.
