Crane Operator

As a crane operator, you will undergo comprehensive training to master inventory locations and operational procedures. You will work closely with a trainer to understand color codes for steel, warehouse placement, and crane operation, ensuring your ability to handle both indoor and outdoor cranes effectively. Responsibilities

Train for several weeks on inventory locations and crane operations. Shadow trainers and perform general clean-up tasks. Learn color codes for steel and warehouse placement. Operate both indoor and outdoor cranes. Perform housekeeping tasks associated with crane operation. Pull beams, load flatbed trailers, and railcars, including rigging and climbing onto flatbeds. Receive inventory and move materials using an overhead crane. Fill out shipping reports and bills of lading, documenting all outgoing loads. Adhere to safety rules while working around flatbed trucks and railcar systems. Essential Skills

1-2 years of experience in construction or manufacturing. Ability to operate equipment safely and effectively. Experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, and heavy equipment. Ability to read a tape measure accurately. Capability to learn and retain color-coded inventory systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Flexibility to train on day shifts before transitioning to another shift. Physical capability to jump onto and off trailers safely. Why Work Here?

Safety gear is required, including hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots with metatarsals. The facility's flooring is predominantly gravel, requiring stability on uneven surfaces. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Petersburg, Virginia. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
