10.00 Nature & Purpose of Position:

Tutors will support students in advancing their competencies in mathematics, ranging from developmental mathematics to calculus 1. Other duties will include extending support for the mathematics sections of other STEM subjects. Sessions will be individual or groups, and conducted either face-to-face or online. A typical day will consist of assisting students with study strategies, content review/interpretation, and home assignments. Tutors will be expected to work 12

20 hours per week, which will be assigned based on need and availability. Additionally, tutors will continuously work toward College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) certification, which is part of the employee evaluation process. Other Requirements for the Position:

Qualifications:a. 3.0 overall GPAb. Enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at SHSU for at least 2 semesters.c. You must have maintained an A or B average in the course you are applying to tutor for.d. Two recommendation letters from faculty/instructors who can discuss your math skills and your ability to work with students.e.

MUST have completed a FAFSA for the current academic term.
