Shuttle Van Driver
Reporting to the Assistant Supervisor II, the Shuttle Van Driver operates passenger vans on, around, and in the vicinity of the Montclair State University campus. The Shuttle Van Driver will transport students and assist with charters to provide additional coverage as needed. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Operates the University passenger vans and provides safe, efficient and reliable transportation to University constituents, in accordance with established schedules and during emergencies. Ensure safe and proper function of assigned vehicles, provide effective communication, suggest enhancements to the shuttle system. Provide excellent customer service at all times. Report all mechanical problems immediately to the supervisor. Maintain cleanliness of vehicle, removing and properly disposing of debris from bus at the end of each shift. Complete and submit all required forms and reports to the supervisor prior to the end of shift. Conduct pre-trip inspections before driving when starting a shift and a post-trip inspection at the end of the shift. Report accidents and damage to the supervisor and proper authorities immediately. Maintain a pleasant and friendly environment for passengers; provide directions and information about University and surrounding locations; assist passengers with boarding and disembarking passenger vans as necessary. Perform proper log-on and log-off procedures for TripShot vehicle tracking, and maintain communications with the dispatch office at all times. Maintain cleanliness of bus shelters. May be required to perform clerical and/or administrative duties as assigned. Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service. Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and or manual recording and computerized information systems used by the institution and the Shuttle Services unit. Perform other duties as assigned. Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time. Qualifications: Required: A High School Diploma or GED. Two years of previous driving experience. Appointees must possess a valid New Jersey Driver's License Class D OR Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B, with a violation Free Driving Record for the past 12 months. Must be available to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime assignments. Appointees must be able to complete and be awarded a Certificate of Completion for a Defensive Driving Course. Salary Range $22.00-$22.00 Hourly. The position may also be eligible for comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and tuition assistance.
