As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for loading, unloading, processing, and storing hazardous and nonhazardous waste materials at a permitted waste treatment facility with supervision. Essential Functions & Requirements: Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and consistently maintaining safe practices. Loads, unloads, and processes solid and liquid waste safely in accordance with Company, Federal, State, and Local rules and regulations. Operates a fork truck and Bobcat with attachments. Directs liquid waste through a system of pumps to tanks for storage. Performs basic spill cleanup and housekeeping duties as directed. Perform chemical compatibility checks to prevent reactions and other issues. Utilizes barcode system equipment to document certain inventory activities. Reviews laboratory data to determine proper handling and disposal of materials. Uses Department of Transportation (DOT) knowledge to match and label inbound materials for storage and shipping of containers to other sites. Utilizes proper equipment to remove samples of materials for analysis and compatibility checks. Operates a hydraulic baler for cardboard and other materials. Maintains operating areas, walls, pipes, and floors in a clean and safe condition. Utilizes knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, OSHA, and permit regulations. Utilizes Arcwood coding and labeling systems to handle and manage containers. Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed including boots, gloves, suits, eye/ear protection and a respirator. Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization. Education: High-school diploma or equivalent (required) 1+ years of related experience (required) 40 hour HAZWOPER certificate (preferred) Competencies: Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Working knowledge of EPA, DOT, and OSHA regulations and general industry practices. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts. Ability to lift up to 60lbs. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed, including a respirator. Regular and predictable attendance to perform the essential functions and requirements of this role.
