JOB SUMMARY
Assists the department head in managing the budget, capital expenditures, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation. Responsible for maintaining the building and grounds with a focus on safety, security, and asset protection. Assigns, tracks, and follows up on work assigned to staff and contractors. Aims to increase guest and employee satisfaction through effective communication and training.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED; 4 years experience in engineering and maintenance or related field; technical training in HVAC-R / electrical / plumbing.
Or a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related major; 2 years experience in engineering and maintenance or related field; technical training in HVAC-R / electrical / plumbing.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Supporting management of Department Operations and Engineering Budgets.
Assisting in planning, scheduling, and evaluating preventative maintenance programs.
Helping establish priorities for property maintenance needs.
Supervising daily operations of Engineering.
Managing the physical plant, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, and life safety systems.
Maintaining and operating equipment efficiently and safely.
Supervising repair work orders.
Maintaining grounds, meeting rooms, ballrooms, public spaces, restaurants, vehicles, and recreational facilities as needed.
Acting as technical liaison for all departments.
Supervising Engineering in the absence of the Director.
Recommending or arranging additional services like painting, repairs, renovations, and replacements.
Selecting and purchasing new equipment, supplies, and furnishings.
Inspecting and evaluating the physical condition of facilities.
Managing parts, supplies, and equipment inventories effectively.
Performing inspections and evaluating new technologies, equipment, and supplies.
Implementing energy conservation programs.
Maintaining Engineering Standards
Ensuring permits and licenses are current.
Ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards.
Adhering to departmental policies, standards, and procedures.
Providing employees with proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service
Exemplifying excellent customer service and creating a positive guest atmosphere.
Interacting with guests for feedback.
Empowering employees to deliver excellent service.
Conducting Human Resources Activities
Managing staffing levels to meet service, operational, and financial goals.
Training employees in safety procedures.
Training staff on fire protection, safety, and evacuation procedures.
Providing feedback based on service observations.
Performing operational activities as needed.
The salary range is $84,000 to $107,000 annually. Marriott offers a bonus program, comprehensive benefits, 401(k), stock purchase plan, paid time off, insurance options, travel discounts, and other incentives. Benefits may vary and are subject to change.
