Material Handler

The Material Handler (Water Spider) is responsible for supporting production flow by transporting wax patterns and assemblies from the Wax department to the Shell department. This role ensures materials are delivered, staged, and replenished on time, maintaining smooth workflow and adherence to company quality and safety standards. Essential Job Functions: Material Transport & Flow Support Collect and transport wax patterns/assemblies from Wax to Shell using approved carts, racks, or handling equipment. Stage and organize materials in proper sequence to support downstream shell-building operations. Maintain continuous rounds (water spider route) to ensure timely delivery and removal of materials. Inventory & Documentation Track and log material movements in the company system to maintain accurate records. Monitor consumables and supplies for Shell operations (trays, tools, additives) and replenish as needed. Assist with cycle counts and reconciliation of inventory related to Wax and Shell materials. Communication & Coordination Communicate production flow issues between Wax and Shell to supervisors to prevent bottlenecks. Collaborate with operators to ensure workstation needs are met without interruption to production. Support continuous improvement efforts through lean manufacturing practices. Housekeeping & Safety Maintain clean and organized work areas, carts, and staging zones. Remove scrap and waste material from Wax and Shell areas in a safe and timely manner. Operate equipment (forklift, pallet jack, carts) in compliance with OSHA and company safety policies. Reporting Relationships: This position reports directly to the Production Supervisors, Department Leads, and other plant personnel to support material flow. Physical Requirements: Regularly required to stand, walk, push, pull, and bend for extended periods. Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 35 pounds independently. Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, dust, noise, and moving equipment. Repetitive motion required in material handling and transport tasks. Preferred Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED. Minimum 1 year of experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or material handling environment. Prior experience with lean manufacturing or "water spider" roles strongly desired. Ability to become forklift certified. Basic computer skills and ability to learn production tracking systems.
