Job Title: Lead Mail Clerk Employment type: Full-time Working hours: 40 hours per week, M-F 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Qualifications High School diploma or GED. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and general computer operation (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Working knowledge of a Mailroom environment. Strong working knowledge of disability management and awareness. Knowledge of the Ability One federal law. Ability to operate the X-Ray machine. Must be authorized for coverage under agency insurance if operating agency vehicle, have a good driving record, valid drivers license, and/or required level of personal auto insurance.

Experience

Experience with mailroom operations and supervisory/lead responsibilities preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist the project manager with day-to-day oversight of mailroom operations and personnel matters. Serve as the Subject Matter Expert on all mail-related items and provide direction to team members. Conduct random spot-check inspections and ensure operations are effective, efficient, and safe in accordance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS), safety regulations, and applicable guidelines. Receive, prepare, sort, and distribute mail; operate mail metering equipment; prepare documents and maintain records. Provide leadership to the mailroom staff and ensure compliance with safety and security regulations. Attend to day-to-day oversight of mailroom operations and personnel matters as directed by the Project Manager. Perform all mailroom functions in accordance with PWS requirements and site-specific guidelines. Track mail and packages according to PWS requirements and site guidelines. Prepare accountable mail (up to the level of SECRET) in accordance with regulatory guidance.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

Adequate ability for conversation, telephone use, and emergency information systems. Ability to move about the work area and retrieve items from high and low areas. Physical stamina to work at least 8 hours per day; able to lift boxes and packages weighing up to 70 pounds with proper techniques.

Emotional Capacities

Must be able to adapt to routine changes and follow through on assignments independently. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with sound judgment. Effective oral and written communication; ability to maintain confidentiality.
