Mechanical Quality Inspector
The Mechanical Quality Inspector is tasked with inspecting parts, assemblies, tooling fixtures, and material to ensure compliance with customer requirements, company specifications, and quality standards. You will set up, operate, inspect, test, and adjust new and reworked tools, dies, gauges, jigs, and fixtures for conformance to engineering drawings and specifications. The role also involves maintaining, processing, and updating confidential and sensitive electronic and hard copy reports, records, and statistics. This role will be working Monday-Thursday on ten hour shifts. There is optional overtime on Fridays. Responsibilities
Inspect machined parts, components, assemblies, and materials to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines such as Military Standards, ASTM, and ANSI. Provide various electronic and hard copy reports of inspections and notify appropriate parties, including project engineers. Set up and calibrate measuring and test equipment, and schedule service and repair of equipment. Maintain calibration computer databases. Observe testing and provide oversight to verify compliance with requirements. Perform nondestructive examinations on various metallic and nonmetallic materials, parts, and assemblies using methods such as penetrant, hi-pot, and hardness testing. Interact with regulatory agencies and customers during audits and reviews of company inspection and calibration activities. Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Qualifications
Proficiency in inspection, quality control, quality assurance, and quality inspection. Experience with micrometers, calipers, and other visual inspection tools. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications. Strong communication skills for effective interfacing with all levels of employees including management. Ability to interpret non-routine information and respond to non-routine issues. Capability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Good computer skills. Hand check inspection experience. Observation and recording as witness experience. Experience in metal/composite inspection. Proficiency in paperwork related to quality inspection. Familiarity with inspection data and witness inspection. ERP/MRP/SAP experience. Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards. Understanding of DOE quality assurance requirements (preferred). Familiarity with the person Y14.5 (preferred). Typically requires an associate's degree, trade school certificate, military training, or equivalent in quality inspections or certification by a professional group such as ASQ or AWS. One or more years of progressive experience in electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, or metrology inspection and calibration. The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $33.00/hr.
