Leidos' Defense Systems Mission Assurance is seeking a 2nd shift Quality Assurance Inspector to join our Space Systems team in Huntsville, AL. Primary responsibilities will be with the Wide Field of View (WFOV) program which is an optical payload on a missile warning and tracking satellite. You will play a critical role in ensuring mechanical and electrical spaceflight hardware meets all requirements. Support 2nd shift operations (approximately 3 pm 11:30 pm) at our assembly facility in Huntsville, AL. First shift or weekend support may be required during critical manufacturing periods or training. Perform quality inspections to verify that optical components, mechanical assemblies, electrical cables, and integrated hardware and testing activities meet specified drawing/specification requirements. Work with engineering and production team members in an interactive and collaborative environment. Work in fast-paced development and production clean room environment with minimal supervision. Ensure nonconformances are properly documented and coordinate final dispositions with engineering. Other duties may include performing receiving inspection, logging shelf-life material, performing First Article Inspections, compiling End Item Data Packages, and measuring parts using standard measuring equipment. Basic Qualifications
Candidate must possess a High School diploma or GED and 1-3 years of prior relevant work experience performing quality inspections or assembly, integration, or testing of high-performance systems (e.g. aircraft, launch vehicles, spacecraft, or submarines). Must be able to work night (2nd) shift primarily, but occasional support for overtime or weekend shifts may be required. Initial training will likely be 1st shift before transitioning to 2nd. Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance. Must be knowledgeable of standard inspection and measurement equipment, i.e. micrometers, calipers, multimeters, magnification, black light inspections, etc. Must be able to interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing requirements. Must be able to witness test procedures and generate test/inspection reports. Must be able to read and interpret drawings, assembly schematics, design models, and specifications and prepare hand-written or computer-generated inspection reports. Experience with Microsoft Windows & Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.) Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. Position requires candidate to be capable of performing in a collective environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams & sub-tier partners. Must be able to pass an eye exam for visual inspection. Candidate must be a resident of, or willing to relocate to, the Huntsville, AL area. Preferred Qualifications
Existing Secret security clearance Knowledge and/or experience working with spaceflight hardware (e.g. optics, satellite hardware, electronics, cleanrooms) Certified Quality Inspector Experience performing First Article Inspections (FAI) I.A.W.
