At TomCo Solutions, we are more than builders—we’re community partners. We’re seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Construction Estimator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in drafting basic plans, performing takeoffs, preparing bids for subcontractors, and delivering accurate, timely estimates to support client needs and the sales department.
You will play a critical role in helping clients bring their projects to life by ensuring new builds, additions, ADUs, renovations, and light commercial projects are scoped accurately and competitively.
- Estimating & Takeoffs: Perform accurate quantity takeoffs, field measurements, and cost analyses for residential and light commercial projects.
- Drafting Plans: Prepare and adjust basic conceptual drawings to support estimate development and client presentations.
- Bid Coordination: Solicit and evaluate bids from local subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
- Estimate Preparation: Develop clear, detailed estimates for multiple project types—including new builds, additions, ADUs, and renovations—with quick turnaround for the sales team and clients.
- Collaboration: Partner closely with the sales department and project managers to ensure estimates align with project goals, client expectations, and company standards.
- Budgeting & Accuracy: Monitor market pricing, materials, and labor costs to maintain competitive and accurate estimates.
- Documentation: Maintain organized records of takeoffs, subcontractor bids, and finalized estimates.
- Continuous Improvement: Recommend process improvements to enhance speed, accuracy, and client satisfaction.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in construction estimating, residential/light commercial preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in construction estimation software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, BuilderTrend, or similar).
- Ability to draft and read basic plans, blueprints, and specifications.
- Knowledge Base:
- Strong understanding of construction methods, building codes, and material costs.
- Experience with new builds, additions, ADUs, and renovations.
- Analytical Ability: Skilled at performing detailed takeoffs, cost analyses, and risk assessments.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal skills; ability to clearly present estimates to clients, sales teams, and management.
- Subcontractor Relations: Experience sourcing and negotiating bids with local subcontractors and suppliers.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in measurements, calculations, and documentation.
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred (or equivalent work experience).
