AUBURN PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION CAFETERIA Worker Reports to: Food Service Director/Cafeteria Manager Responsibilities: To help provide excellent and on trend food concepts for students and staff to endure high quality nutritious meals in an atmosphere of safety, dedication to quality customer service. Essential Functions: • reports to work on time and in proper designated uniform requirements • assists in all areas of food production, with special care given to the quality and presentation of all meals served • performs HACCP duties and records correct HACCP information on the sheets provided • reports to the Manager when food may be needed in their general area of production and offers suggestions to keep the kitchen running smoothly • assists in filling in daily production records and completes Health-ePro entries as assigned • serves the students and staff in a friendly and caring manner, making sure serving station are filled to accommodate customers • pays attention to allergies listed for each student, Allergen Certification required • assists in dish and pot and pan washing, station cleaning and sanitizing kitchen surfaces and equipment, floors, walls, etc. • assists as cashier with POS register and records record money and lunches on the computer, making sure each student has an account and updates provided to students with their account balances. • reports to the Manager any problems or equipment issues. • Completes cash counter at the end of service day and is accountable to follow cash handling policies and procedures/deposits as assigned. • assists and cleans the kitchen and cafeteria areas when serving is finished. • ensures proper storage of all food items, recording food name, and date of preparation and storage. • assists in receiving deliveries and participates in monthly physical inventory and par stock documentation for placing orders. • works with the Manager and other staff members as a team to accomplish the daily duties and offers input from the students and staff with menu options and suggestions for workflow. • works in close collaboration with the Manager to maintain and enhance procedures for a smooth working kitchen and cafeteria. • performs other duties, as assigned. Ability to: • Follows the direction of the school's Cafeteria Manager, and Director of Food Services and work collaboratively with the entire Food Service Team • Flexibility in scheduling workdays and hours • Assists in preparation, weighing and measuring quantity food recipes for preparation of a wide variety of food • Lift moderately heavy items and stand for sustained periods of time • Work efficiently during rush conditions. • Demonstrates ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions • Plans and organize assigned work to meet deadlines, establishing efficiency in all assignments • Adheres to Servsafe safety standards and safe work practices especially in the handling and use of chemicals and blood-borne pathogens. • Maintains cooperative and productive working relationships through the courtesy and tact when dealing with others. • Ability to be certified and maintain Continuing Education requirements under USDA, State and local mandated school nutrition education requirements, safety laws, anti-choke, allergen certifications, as required. Knowledge of: • Methods and materials used in the preparation of large quantities of various food service. • Safety practices relating to the handling, storage and use of food products. • Cleaning and sanitation and health standards • Maintain and acquires up to date knowledge of modern work methods, procedures and equipment use. • Food allergies and protocol for response Education: • High school graduate, food service experience 1 - 3 years, preferred. • ServSafe certified (District can provide, as needed) • MA Allergen certifies (District can provide, as needed) Qualifications: • evidence of ability to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
