Environmental, Health and Safety Manager

Prevent and eliminate injury and illness of employees and assist company to comply with safety laws. Ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement of safety and environmental metrics including, accident investigation, workers compensation, electrical safety, machine guarding, chemical management, environmental reporting and hazardous waste activities. Drive proactive EHS and security activities. Plan, organize, and coordinate a wide variety of training activities including required certification trainings, professional development in health/safety compliance, education, business, and technical areas; and arrange on-the-job training for new employees within established guidelines and company standards. Work as a visible leader in a fast paced and changing environment.

Duties to include but not limited to: Lead, coordinate and ensure compliance with Safety program requirement. Inspect and evaluate the environment, equipment and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards. Inspect workplaces, and minimize or eliminate hazards from processes, such as incorrect working methods, and materials, such as potentially toxic chemicals. Recommend changes to protect workers, and educate employees on how to prevent health and safety risks through the use of safety training programs. Determine and implement required and proactive EHS training. Identify potentially hazardous biological and chemical materials and collect samples of them for analysis. Investigate accidents to identify their causes and find ways to prevent them in the future. Assist with environmental permits, certifications and registrations (NPDES, Storm water, Air, Wastewater, Hazardous Waste). Prepare EHS reports (EPCRA, Hazardous Waste, and Remediation). Manage workers compensation claims. Implement industrial hygiene and safety engineering into manufacturing processes. Coordinate emergency preparedness activities. Develop and implement corrective action plans using DBS tools. Lead and coordinate Safety, Environmental and Risk Management activities. Drive safety and environmental improvements utilizing Safety Committee. Assure compliance with property insurance recommendations. Maintain required programs including: Confined Space, HazCom, Hearing Conservation, fork truck, Machine Guarding, Emergency, Bloodborne Pathogen, Crane, Respiratory Protection, PPE. Develop and report safety and environmental metrics. Conduct audits and implement action plans. Champion waste reduction initiatives. Training Plan and organize employee training and materials including training manuals, guides, handouts, visuals, etc. for the purpose of implementing training activities that address identified training needs in the company. Act as a liaison and resource in identifying employee training needs. Communicate with supervisors and other managers within the company about specific employees, new methods and ideas to facilitate successful future trainings for employees. Conduct a variety of employee trainings (e.g. new employee orientations, CPR classes, employee health/safety compliance trainings, etc.) for the purpose of facilitating post-employment education of employees to meet department objectives and outcomes. Develop individual trainings for employees, as requested, (e.g. variety of resources, including job descriptions, etc.) for the purpose of supporting supervisor-directed employee growth plans in compliance with department and/or district outcomes. Evaluate training materials (e.g. training data, instruction outlines, text and handouts, evaluation of training effectiveness, etc.) for the purpose of implementing training activities that address identified training needs in accordance with company objectives and guidelines. Maintain a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records (e.g. training procedure manuals, guides, course materials, handouts/visuals, training records, required reports, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines. Monitor training costs for the purpose of ensuring services are provided in compliance with department budget objectives and guidelines. Respond to inquiries for the purpose of resolving problems, providing information and/or referring to appropriate personnel. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections. Must be a skilled trainer
