Job Title: Senior Project Controls Analyst

Length : 6-month contract to hire

Pay Rate: $60-80/hour

Start: end of August/Early September

Location – Bay Area (can sit in Palo Alto, San Jose, Fremont)

What to Expect

As a Lead/Senior Project Controls Analyst you will lead project controls on a program of multiple projects across North America, or a Mega project $500M+. You will be responsible to deliver planning/scheduling, cost management, estimating, risk management, and change management functions as determined by Project size and criticality. You will oversee deliverables impacting high performing teams working cross functionally with engineering, procurement, construction project execution, finance, Infrastructure applications and facilities teams while ensuring Project teams are delivering best value. This role requires candidates who are dynamic, open minded critical thinkers, who can develop and implement a Project Controls program tailored towards execution practices in a fast paced design build project execution environment. Will be responsible for 25+ projects at any given time as an Individual Contributor, and on occasions leading a small team. Must have the adaptability to deploy project controls deliverables that are meaningful and sustainable.

What You’ll Do

  • Scheduling: Develop and maintain integrated EPC project schedules, considering all aspects of the project life cycle, from design and engineering to construction and commissioning. Monitor schedule progress, identify potential delays, and work with project teams to implement strategies for schedule optimization. Conduct thorough schedule analysis and what-if scenarios to improve or mitigate schedule
  • Performance measurement: Establish KPIs for project controls and the program to regularly report on project performance against metrics. Including key milestones, forecast targets, earned value management systems, to provide insights into project trends and potential issues, offering proactive solutions to ensure project success
  • Cost Management: Continue development and implementation of cost management tools including approved budget, total commitments, expenditures, accruals, and invoiced costs. Work closely with project teams to forecast project costs during project execution. Prepare cashflow forecasts for Finance
  • Change Management: Support project teams on change management, develop processes to streamline information flow and secure timely approvals from management.
  • Estimation: Supporting estimation team with benchmarking, project feedback, change management feedback and overall process improvement, including the handoff from project approval to active spending
  • Communication & Reporting: Lead development, implementation and maintenance of project level and executive reporting program, including dashboards, presentations, reports, etc. to highlight project status, issues, and recommended actions
  • Risk Assessment: Work with key stakeholders to identify, evaluate, quantify project risks and support teams through the mitigation process through the development of risk management plans. Collaborate with project teams to implement risk mitigation strategies
  • Coach and mentor counterparts and subordinates on excellence in the construction industry. Use efficient and aesthetic communication methods to escalate roadblocks or communicate successes as necessary
  • Develop automated processes to streamline the Project Controls program. Provide the best product for your respective customer or end users, keeping projects and programs moving forward and fixing concerns as they arise
  • Foster an innovative environment amongst your team’s and those within the infrastructure group to help the company succeed in accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy

Must Haves:

  • 5+ years of experience on commercial and/or large-scale infrastructure programs
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, including scheduling techniques, cost control, and risk management.
  • Proven experience in project controls, with a track record of successfully managing and executing full life cycle projects and/or large programs with multiple projects.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Willingness to get your hands on to complete objectives/deliverables and lead your projects through challenging times, tight deadlines and aggressive goals
  • Have an inquisitive and open attitude to exploring innovative ideas and willingness to continuously learn and adapt
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Cost Control software).
  • Ability to communicate to executives

Plusses:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or Construction Management, related fields or equivalent. Master’s degree in any business, finance, economics or engineering a bonus

Compensation:

$60-80/hour

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
