Core Responsibilities
Provide legal support for trading activities across asset classes, with a focus on derivatives, securities, and structured products. Draft, negotiate, and manage documentation such as ISDA Master Agreements, CSA, brokerage and clearing agreements, and other trading-related contracts. Advise on legal and regulatory issues impacting proprietary trading, market access, and counterparty relationships. Monitor developments in financial regulations (e.g., SEC, CFTC, FINRA, EMIR) and assess their impact on trading strategies and documentation. Collaborate with compliance, risk, and operations teams to ensure alignment with legal standards and internal controls. Engage with external counsel and counterparties to resolve complex legal issues and support strategic initiatives. Contribute to internal legal frameworks and mentor junior team members on trading documentation and regulatory matters.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree; admission to practice in a relevant jurisdiction. Minimum 5 years of legal experience, preferably within financial services or a law firm advising trading entities. Strong understanding of trading documentation and financial market infrastructure. Familiarity with U.S. and international regulatory regimes governing securities and derivatives. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver practical legal solutions.
