Location: Woodbridge, CT | Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 9AM–5PM About Us We are a well-established environmental laboratory with over 35 years of experience in drinking water and radon testing. Serving clients across the Northeast from our main lab in Woodbridge, we’re seeking a dynamic Lab Director to lead our chemistry operations and support our continued growth.
Position Summary We are seeking a full-time Lab Director to oversee the daily operations of our chemistry laboratory, with a primary focus on analytical instrumentation. This leadership role requires hands-on expertise in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex laboratory instruments, along with the ability to manage staff and uphold quality systems. Qualifications & Requirements Education : MS or Ph.D. in Chemistry is required. Additional background in Radiochemistry and Microbiology is a plus. Experience: Candidates must have at least
5 years
of post-graduate experience specializing in analytical instrumentation, specifically within a non-research laboratory setting. Instrumentation : Some Proficiency in operating and maintaining ICP-OES, ICP-MS, ICs, GC-MS, and LSCs. Other Requirements : Proven experience in SOP development, staff oversight, and lab operations Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills. Key Responsibilities Operate and troubleshoot complex instruments, including: ICP-OES, ICP-MS, Ion Chromatographs (ICs), Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), Liquid Scintillation Counters (LSCs). Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment. Supervise, support, and mentor a team of scientists. Develop, update, and enforce SOPs in accordance with NELAC and EPA standards. Manage and maintain QA/QC protocols. Train staff in laboratory procedures, instrumentation, and safety standards. Ensure lab compliance with regulatory requirements and audits.
