Key Responsibilities Quality Leadership & Compliance – Serve as the Lead Quality Management Representative. – Supervise and develop the Quality Assurance team, including engineers and inspectors. – Oversee AS9100 audit compliance and ongoing ITAR certification. – Serve as Lead Auditor for internal, external, and third-party audits. – Train and qualify staff on the QMS and company policies. – Develop and implement quality training programs for both QA and production teams. – Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and directives (REACH, ROHS, Conflict Minerals, Counterfeit Materials, SAE, MIL Specs, etc.). Product & Process Quality Oversight – Conduct and manage First Article Inspections (FAIs) per AS9102 using Net-Inspect. – Oversee inspection and calibration of test equipment, including LCR meters, HiPot testers, oscilloscopes, micrometers, etc. – Perform product and receiving inspections. – Review product quality records for accuracy and completeness. – Develop and maintain Inspection Plans and support ECO (Engineering Change Order) approvals. – Evaluate and resolve discrepancies in quality reports across internal teams, customers, and suppliers. Customer & Supplier Interface – Act as primary liaison to customers, suppliers, and regulatory agencies for quality-related matters. – Support the contract review process, including verification of quality clauses, export compliance (ITAR/EAR, NAFTA, HTS codes), and first article requirements. – Manage vendor quality performance, communicate nonconformances, and audit corrective/preventive actions. – Process customer complaints (RMAs) and validate customer expectations. Root Cause & Continuous Improvement – Drive Root Cause Analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions. – Track and audit effectiveness of corrective actions. – Identify, propose, and implement cost-saving and quality improvement projects from concept through execution. Operational Quality Support – Define and manage daily and weekly goals for the quality department. – Collaborate with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot and prevent nonconformances. – Monitor daily shipments and resolve quality issues to support on-time delivery. – Support departmental planning, budgeting, and performance reporting. Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – Ability to manage quality projects and lead cross-functional teams. – Hands-on approach to quality support in a manufacturing setting. – Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. – Strong working knowledge of QMS standards (AS9100, ITAR). – Experience with industry/military standards and specifications. – Proficiency in use of measurement tools and electrical testing equipment. – Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with Adobe preferred. – Must pass an eye exam, including color vision test. – Strong understanding of Root Cause Analysis and Corrective/Preventive Actions. – US Person status as defined by ITAR. – Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Preferred – Ability to communicate in Spanish. – Experience conducting and managing audits. – Familiarity with contract manufacturing and electro-mechanical assemblies. – Prior leadership experience in a regulated manufacturing environment. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field. Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in aviation, military, or electro-mechanical industries. Prior experience in quality leadership or supervisory roles preferred.
