Overview
The Staff Accountant I - General is responsible for maintaining financial reports, records and general ledgers, and performing general bookkeeping. The Staff Accountant is also responsible for executing general office duties, accruals, reversals, monitoring fixed assets, reconciling AR & notes payable accounts, maintaining ledger accounts and payments of goods and services necessary for the basic operation of the Accounting Function overall performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Stakeholder Interface and Service
- Provide auditors with information needed in a timely fashion.
- Protects organization\'s value by keeping information confidential, which, if disclosed, might have significant internal/external effect to the organization.
- Consult with operational managers throughout the organization to resolve financial and logistical questions.
- Provide recommendations on system changes and upgrades to improve processes of the organization.
- Assist Accounting Manager to monitor both the management (internal) and contract (external) budgets to ensure adherence. Modifies budget when required to ensure spend out on contracts and grants.
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain and reconcile various consultants\' schedules
- Serve as backup to other members of the Finance Department team as needed.
- Accurately allocate, utilizing the cost allocation plan and module, all expenditures in order to bill out contract revenue on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Assist Accounting Manager and coordinate funder/annual audits.
- Accruals and reversal
- Prepare yearly Indirect Cost Rate proposal.
- Stakeholder Outreach and Recruitment
- Copy and distribute financials matched against final BVA in a timely and prompt manner.
- Manage multiple projects effectively and efficiently.
- Tracking, Documenting, and Reporting
- Responsible for preparation and quality of the monthly reports that will be used for upper management analyzation.
- Provide financial analysis as requested in a timely manner, conforming to standards as assigned.
- Complete all month-end closing ensure all journal entries are input into the computerized accounting system accurately, in a timely manner.
- Maintain General Ledger Accounts
- Monthly review of agency cost centers to analyze actual expenditures against budgets with Accounting Manager.
