Starting Wage: $24.26 per hour, non-exempt
Wage Range: $24.26 to 32.35 per hour
Job Summary This maintenance position performs wastewater equipment and sanitary sewer maintenance work including the use of heavy equipment combined with technical knowledge in a specialized area.
Year-round work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM with minimal overtime.
Job Duties or Essential Functions The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
Cleans and inspect wastewater plant and equipment and repair equipment and pumps using various hand and power tools.
Repairs and maintains all mechanical equipment used for the operation and maintenance of the wastewater plant and sewerage system on a regular basis.
Cleans, paints, and makes other repairs of the physical properties, buildings and wastewater plants.
Shovels and plows snow to maintain access to plant controls.
Inspects and records data from mechanical and electrical equipment.
Collects and tests water and sewage samples, using testing equipment.
Hauls sludge and maintains sludge spreading records.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the formal education, experience and training required.
Minimum
High school diploma or GED
One (1) year of municipal utility maintenance work or related experience
Have or be willing to obtain a Class B commercial driver’s license with air brake and tanker endorsement within six months of employment (The City will assist the selected candidate in obtaining licensure.)
Have or be willing to obtain a Class D Wastewater Operator license within 18 months of employment
Have or be willing to obtain a Type 4 Biosolids Land Application license within 18 months of employment.
Candidate must live or be willing to relocate within thirty minutes of the Winona city limits.
Desired
Associate’s degree or equivalent training at a technical or vocational school with a focus on wastewater technology, mechanics, plumbing or related field
Three years of experience
