Patient Benefits Specialist.
IMPORTANT ***** This will be an onsite role. Work ***** 11800 Weston Parkway, Cary, NC 27513 Work ***** (Mon – Fri) 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM ***** 3 months with possible extension 8 hours per day/40 hours per week
***** The Patient Access Specialist, Rare/Orphan plays a critical role in supporting patients with rare diseases by ensuring access to prescribed therapies. This position involves insurance benefits investigation, prior authorization support, claims adjudication, refill management, and delivery coordination. Candidate will work closely with providers, patients, and a multi-disciplinary team to provide the highest level of care and service. Process eligibility checks and enter accurate prescription insurance information into patient profiles. Adjudicate pharmacy claims and troubleshoot rejections, ensuring patients receive correct and timely information. Communicate and coordinate prior authorization (PA) requirements with providers, serving as a resource throughout the PA process. Manage inbound calls from patients, providers, and clinics regarding order status, financial support options, and available services. Provide technical expertise related to adjudication and identify areas for process improvement. Document accurate, detailed progress notes on patient profiles. Coordinate medication refills and schedule deliveries/payments to ensure timely therapy adherence. Monitor and report adverse events (AEs) and product complaints (PCs) to clinicians for patient safety. Perform additional duties as required, based on program needs.
QUALIFICATIONS / ***** High school diploma or equivalent. Must have 3-5 years of patient benefit representative experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting. Knowledge of insurance eligibility, benefits investigation, and prior authorization processes. Strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Excellent communication skills with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. Team-oriented, flexible, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment. Highly motivated, patient-focused, and committed to excellence.
