The Career Coaching Cloud is engaged in a retained search for a Creative Director in the apparel industry. The position is located in Los Angeles County and requires the individual to work onsite for three days a week.
Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for a Creative Director (apparel) located in Los Angeles County, CA. The Creative Director will be responsible for overseeing creative direction, strategy, branding, art direction, and graphic design aspects related to apparel designs on a day-to-day basis.
Please see the below on what our Marketing Department: Key Role Responsibilities of the Creative Director Leads, and collaborates, on the visual storytelling of campaigns, including photoshoots, digital ads, social media content, and in-store displays. Visual Storytelling & Concept Development Lead the visual direction for campaigns across all mediums — from concept to execution. Translate marketing and brand strategies into engaging visual narratives for digital, print, and physical spaces. Develop and pitch mood boards, storyboards, and art direction decks that guide the creative process. Creative Production Oversight Manage the end-to-end production of photoshoots, video shoots, digital content, and in-store displays. Oversee set design, styling, location scouting, casting, and shoot logistics. Ensure all assets are produced on-brand, on-budget, and on-time. Design Supervision & Collaboration Work closely with graphic designers, motion designers, photographers, and stylists to execute the vision. Review and provide feedback on creative assets to maintain high-quality, cohesive aesthetics. Ensure visual consistency across all platforms — social media, digital ads, e-commerce, packaging, etc. Cross-Functional Partnership Collaborate with marketing managers, copywriters, merchandisers, and e-commerce teams. Align creative production with campaign objectives, product launches, seasonal stories, and promotions. Act as a bridge between creative vision and strategic goals. Project & Budget Management Develop and manage production timelines, budgets, and vendor contracts. Source and negotiate with photographers, studios, prop houses, and freelancers. Ensure smooth production workflows and proper usage rights/licenses. Quality Assurance & Brand Alignment Uphold brand guidelines and ensure creative output reflects the brand’s tone, identity, and positioning. Review final assets to ensure technical accuracy and visual excellence before distribution or launch. Innovation & Trend Research Stay current with visual trends, photography styles, platform innovations, and consumer engagement tactics. Bring new creative ideas to the table to elevate brand storytelling and visual impact. Experience: Ideal experience will come from both Agency-side and In-house. Previous work for a Multi-brand company/multi-channel company beneficial. Core Creative & Strategic Skills Visual Storytelling: Ability to craft compelling narratives that emotionally connect with fashion audiences across seasonal campaigns and brand moments. Brand Identity Development: Deep understanding of how to express a brand’s tone, style, and DNA visually across multiple touchpoints. Trend Forecasting & Inspiration Sourcing: Strong sense of style and current fashion trends; ability to pull references and inspiration that shape timely, culturally relevant visuals. Concepting & Moodboarding: Skilled at building conceptual frameworks through mood boards, storyboards, and pitch decks for creative alignment. Design & Art Direction Skills Creative Direction for Campaigns: Leading creative look and feel for photoshoots, digital content, print materials, and in-store displays. Styling Sensibility: Strong eye for styling, garment details, and outfit composition that highlights the product while telling a cohesive story. Set & Composition Design: Ability to direct on-set aesthetics — from props and backdrops to lighting and framing — for a cohesive visual environment. Digital Asset Design Oversight: Comfort directing or collaborating on motion graphics, layouts for email/social/web, and e-comm photography. Production & Project Management Photoshoot & Video Production: Planning, producing, and overseeing studio or location shoots, including casting, location scouting, budgeting, and timelines. Vendor & Crew Management: Working with photographers, stylists, editors, retouchers, and production teams to deliver high-quality content. Multi-Channel Content Creation: Producing assets tailored for paid media, organic social, influencer campaigns, e-comm, print, OOH, and retail. Collaboration & Communication Cross-Functional Communication: Working with marketing, e-commerce, merchandising, and retail teams to ensure creative aligns with business needs. Leadership & Feedback: Giving clear creative feedback, managing junior creatives, and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external partners. Creative Problem Solving: Pivoting in real-time during shoots or campaigns when creative, logistical, or budget challenges arise. Technical & Software Skills Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom) Capture One / Lightroom for shoot previews and adjustments Figma or Canva for presentation design and collaboration Project management tools familiarity (Asana, Monday, Trello) Budgeting tools and production documentation workflows Experience with DAM systems (Digital Asset Management)
