Director of Data Governance

to lead the expansion of enterprise data governance capabilities. This leadership role will focus on strengthening data quality, advancing stewardship programs, and implementing master data management (MDM) practices.

The Director will drive the overall governance program to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and trustworthiness of critical data assets across the business.

This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys building from the ground up, collaborating across departments, and promoting a culture of trusted, high-quality data that supports compliance, reduces risk, and powers advanced analytics.

This is an onsite role in Austin, Texas with Friday's remote.

What you get to go do in this exciting role: Lead the development and execution of the enterprise data governance strategy, with a focus on data quality, stewardship, and MDM implementation. Define and enforce policies, standards, and controls for enterprise data, including quality, master/reference data, metadata, and lineage. Establish a scalable data stewardship model with clear accountability across business units. Develop and oversee strategies for master and reference data management, including data modeling, entity resolution, and stewardship workflows. Manage “golden records” for key entities such as Firms, Reps, Clients, Accounts, and Products. Build and maintain a central inventory of critical data elements and their relationships. Oversee the adoption of governance technologies (e.g., Alation, Monte Carlo, Profisee). Partner with Data Engineering, Product, BI, Cybersecurity, and Compliance teams to embed governance practices into pipelines, platforms, and products. Define and monitor KPIs, scorecards, and metrics to track data quality and drive remediation. Represent Data Governance in enterprise-wide initiatives, including platform modernization and AI/ML enablement. Advocate for data responsibility through training, communications, and cultural initiatives.

What you need to be successful: Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK) and hands-on experience operationalizing them. Proven track record with enterprise MDM/RDM programs, including stewardship design and hierarchy management. Deep understanding of data quality management methods and technologies. Familiarity with tools such as Alation, Monte Carlo, Profisee, Databricks Unity Catalog. Experience integrating governance into modern data environments (e.g., Azure, Databricks). Strong leadership and change management skills, with the ability to influence across both technical and business teams. Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Business, or related field required; Master’s preferred. 7+ years in data management, with 5+ years leading governance/MDM initiatives. Experience in financial services, broker-dealer, or other regulated industries highly preferred
