JOB SUMMARY:
This is an Accountant - Professional Accountant Specialist position in the General Tax Administration Program, Refunds and Revenue Accounting Process, Account Services Unit. The incumbent will coordinate with Accountants and Tax Law Specialists to perform complex reconciliations of various Department funds and be responsible for ensuring funds are properly accounted for in the State accounts and internal tax databases and prepare reports for local governments and state agencies. The incumbent will also complete work involving the independent application of accounting and auditing concepts, principles, theories, and technical skills in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS) to revenue recording function of FLAIR and PALM systems. This position serves as the liaison official between the process, other processes, and agencies regarding revenue collections and deposit adjustments.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently employed with the Florida Department of Revenue.
- Four years of experience communicating verbally and in writing with internal and external partners for the purpose of resolving inquiries.
- Four years of experience conducting research and analyzing information to make decisions.
- Two years of experience applying rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
* A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the field of business, accounting, or finance may substitute for four years of the combined experience specified above.PREFERENCES:
- Experience researching, interpreting, and applying Florida tax law.
- Experience reviewing and/or making adjustments to account balance in the System for Unified Taxation (SUNTAX).
