Job Summary: The Production Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating manufacturing operations in their area to ensure production goals are met efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. This role provides leadership to production teams, manages resources, drives continuous improvement, and ensures alignment with company objectives in productivity, cost control, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities: Manage daily manufacturing operations, including production output, workflow optimization, and resource allocation. Ensure products are manufactured on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), such as throughput, yield, scrap rates, labor efficiency, and equipment utilization. Lead and develop a team of team leads, technicians, and production staff, fostering a high-performance culture. Implement lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste. Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to resolve production issues and improve processes. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations (e.g., OSHA, ISO standards). Oversee training and cross-training programs for production personnel. Prepare and present reports on production performance, challenges, and improvement plans to senior leadership.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or technical degree preferred. 3+ years of leadership experience, leading multiple teams. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment operation, and safety standards. Proven leadership and team coordination skills. Ability to read and interpret production schedules, work orders, and basic technical drawings. Proficient in basic computer systems (Microsoft Office, ERP systems). Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement initiatives. Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Plex).
Working Conditions: Manufacturing floor environment; exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs during the shift. Required to work on rotating shift.
