Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented

Medical Assistant

to join our

Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) clinic . The ideal candidate will have experience in a clinical setting, providing both administrative and patient care support. This role involves assisting providers with exams and procedures, preparing patients for visits, and ensuring smooth clinic operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

Room patients, obtain vitals, and document medical history in the EMR system. Assist providers with ENT-specific procedures such as ear irrigations, allergy testing, endoscopic exams, and hearing tests. Perform diagnostic tests, including tympanometry and audiometry, as directed by the provider. Administer injections, ear drops, and allergy treatments under provider supervision. Clean and sterilize instruments following infection control protocols. Educate patients on post-procedure care and medication instructions. Maintain accurate documentation and assist with prior authorizations and referrals.

Administrative Duties:

Schedule appointments and manage patient follow-ups. Verify insurance and assist with billing inquiries. Coordinate prescription refills and process prior authorizations. Ensure exam rooms are stocked, clean, and properly equipped.

Qualifications:

Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred . Previous experience in an ENT or specialty clinic is a plus. Proficiency in EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, or similar).

At least one year of clinical experience * Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician. * Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height. * Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies. * Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records. * Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients. * Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean. * Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing. * Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician. * Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures. * Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests or admission. * Schedule appointments for patients. * Change dressings on wounds. * Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies. * Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms. * Greet and log in patients arriving at office or clinic. * Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses. * Keep financial records or perform other bookkeeping duties, such as handling credit or collections or mailing monthly statements to patients. * Operate x-ray, electrocardiogram (EKG), or other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests. * Inventory and order medical, lab, or office supplies or equipment. * Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician. * Set up medical laboratory equipment.
