Position Overview
Under general supervision, provides scheduling and information support, maintains a master schedule of events, processes paperwork for assigned court or judge (Criminal, Traffic, or Civil) in support of court events. This position reports to the Assistant Chief Deputy or the Chief Deputy of the Municipal Courts Division. Summary of Job Duties
Manage case flow for the court while remaining in compliance with applicable rules, policies and procedures; process cases according to status; coordinate work for all involved parties; process case-related paperwork for subpoenas, notices, and the like; journalize and file case documents; obtain forensic evaluations; process jury demand paperwork; schedule jury trials; prepare and distribute judge's bench dockets; prepare and distribute case-related judicial entries and correspondence. Ensure that prisoners are available for court sessions and video hearings; review listing to locate cases; obtain prisoner lists from jail records; process prisoner transports; communicate orders with appropriate agencies; verify transport list prior to court sessions; prepare copies of the list for appropriate personnel; recall warrants; file appropriate paperwork, complete and distribute required forms after hearings based upon case status. Arrange for the service of evictions, debtor's exams, writs of execution, subpoenas, bench warrants and other legal documents; keep records to ensure that service is perfected; arrange for alternate service when an attempt fails. Process pleadings, corresponding service: et court date, secure necessary forms and signatures, input information into the computer system, collect fees, and journalize case files. Process transcripts for felonies and appeals; process restitutions for garnishments, bank attachments, evictions, and the like; process required paperwork to engage bailiff for service; pull case files; secure judges' signatures; enter fees and paperwork into the computer system. Attend court sessions to respond to judicial inquiries or provide information; process cases as they are heard; schedule additional cases as needed; enter data into the computer system to update case status; print necessary forms for processing; journalize information. Provide assistance to colleagues in the department, when necessary, due to scheduling, volume, or staffing requirements. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent AND demonstrated proficiency in all of the stated knowledge, skills and abilities (usually obtained through a minimum of one (1) year of direct experience in a Municipal Court or a similar environment). Supplemental Information
