We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Test Technician to support our multidisciplinary research team in testing and validating mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. The role involves preparing test setups, executing protocols, collecting data, and maintaining lab equipment—ensuring the quality and reliability of hardware and prototypes.
Responsibilities Set up, operate, and maintain mechanical and electro-mechanical test equipment and fixtures. Execute test protocols for components, assemblies, and systems under engineer/researcher guidance. Collect, record, and organize test data with precision. Troubleshoot and debug test setups and hardware issues. Support fabrication, assembly, and modification of test fixtures/prototypes. Maintain lab organization, inventory, and equipment calibration records. Communicate test results and observations clearly to the engineering team. Ensure compliance with lab safety protocols and maintain a safe, clean environment.
Required Qualifications Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related technical field, OR equivalent hands-on experience. 2+ years in a mechanical testing, laboratory, or technician role. Familiarity with test equipment (Instron, environmental chambers, vibration tables, etc.). Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.). Ability to read/interpret engineering drawings and test procedures. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Effective written and verbal communication.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with data acquisition systems and basic data analysis (Excel, Python, or similar).
