The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for Telecommunicators to perform a variety of duties involved in the receipt of incoming calls for police, emergency medical and fire services and other emergency and non-emergency assistance; and dispatch of police and fire services. This is a night shift position with working hours scheduled from 7:00pm - 7:00am. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED. Essential duties and responsibilities include: receiving and processing emergency 911 and non-emergency calls requesting police, emergency medical or fire service; providing lifesaving instructions; determining the true nature and location of emergency; dispatching police, fire and public service units; operating communications and telecommunications equipment; and completing continuing dispatch education. Minimum qualifications include equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in public safety communications. Required certifications include IAED Emergency Telecommunicator Certification (ETC) or APCO Basic Telecommunicator; IAED Certifications [Emergency Police Dispatch (EPD), Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD), and Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD)]; DCI Certification; CPR Certification and Fayetteville Call Taking certification within 6 months from date of hire. Fayetteville Fire and Police Dispatch certifications must be obtained as training becomes available. This position is subject to pre-employment polygraph and/or CVSA testing. Must be a U.S. Citizen. The selection process is anticipated to last approximately 8 weeks and includes a computerized skills test, panel interview, pre-employment drug screen, psychological evaluation, physical exam, background investigation, driving history check, and polygraph and/or CVSA.
