Overview

Robert Hall Architects (RHA) is a boutique, design-driven firm in San Diego specializing in multifamily housing, ADUs, and residential communities. Our mission: think differently, design beautifully, and deliver housing solutions that move San Diego forward.

This is a full-time, in-office role (hybrid). The Project Architect / Project Manager position blends technical expertise, leadership, and accountability. You’ll oversee projects from concept through construction while managing clients, consultants, and internal teams with precision.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects through all phases: schematic design, permitting, CDs, and construction administration.
  • Oversee QA/QC of drawings to ensure accuracy, constructability, and code compliance.
  • Apply deep technical knowledge of building codes, planning codes, detailing, and construction materials.
  • Manage consultants and contractors, ensuring coordination and timely responses.
  • Communicate proactively with clients, including a weekly email update.
  • Use Asana for task management and Monograph for project tracking (non-negotiable).
  • Update Asana project status every Friday.
  • Track budgets and schedules, aligning resources to ensure profitability.
  • Mentor junior staff in technical and solution-oriented approaches.

Qualifications

  • 7–10+ years of professional architecture experience (multifamily, residential, or ADU preferred).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture (licensure not required).
  • Proven experience in QA/QC reviews of drawings and documentation.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit; Enscape/Lumion a plus.
  • Solid understanding of codes, building systems, and construction methods.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • High accountability and reliability: follows through, meets deadlines, provides consistent updates.
  • Comfortable with firmwide systems — no pushback on Asana, Monograph, or reporting cadence.
  • Alignment with RHA’s values: Integrity, Collaborative Fun, Curious Innovation, Lifelong Learning, and the Rookie’s Advantage.
