The Purchasing and Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s supply chain and inventory operations to ensure that raw materials and packaging supplies are sourced efficiently, costs are minimized, and quality standards are met. This role includes maintaining optimal stock levels, negotiating with vendors, coordinating deliveries, and ensuring the production process runs smoothly to meet the demands of the food manufacturing process. Key Responsibilities:Purchasing: Vendor Management

: Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with suppliers, negotiate pricing and contract terms, and ensure consistent quality and timely deliveries. Sourcing

: Research and select new suppliers for raw materials, packaging, and other supplies, keeping cost-effectiveness and quality in mind. Cost Control

: Negotiate competitive pricing with suppliers to optimize material costs without compromising quality or production timelines. Purchase Orders

: Create and manage purchase orders based on production schedules and inventory levels, ensuring timely restocking without over-purchasing. Inventory Management: Stock Level Monitoring

: Maintain optimal inventory levels to support continuous production and minimize holding costs. Inventory Audits

: Conduct regular physical inventory counts, resolve discrepancies, and ensure proper storage conditions to maintain product quality and safety. Inventory Forecasting

: Use historical data and collaborate with production and sales teams to forecast material needs based on upcoming production plans. Minimize Waste

: Implement inventory control procedures to minimize spoilage, waste, and loss due to over-ordering or inadequate storage. Logistics Coordination: Inbound Shipments

: Coordinate and track the arrival of raw materials and packaging, ensuring timely delivery in accordance with production needs. Supplier Relationship Management

: Collaborate with suppliers to ensure efficient and cost-effective logistics for all materials. Compliance and Quality Control: Compliance

: Ensure all purchasing and inventory processes adhere to regulatory and industry standards, including food safety, storage, and transportation regulations. Product Quality

: Work with quality control teams to ensure raw materials meet the company’s quality and food safety standards. Reporting & Analysis: Data Analysis

: Monitor and report on inventory levels, purchasing costs, supplier performance, and material usage, providing actionable insights to senior management. Budgeting

: Develop and manage the purchasing and inventory budget, keeping costs within targets while maintaining production efficiency. Required Qualifications: Education

: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field. Experience

: Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing, inventory management, or supply chain roles, preferably in a food manufacturing environment. Skills

: Strong negotiation and vendor management skills. Proficient in inventory management software (e.g., ERP systems). Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality control processes. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with food vendors and managing complex supply chains. Certification in supply chain management (e.g., CPIM, CSCP). Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement processes. Key Competencies: Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
