ABOUT THE ROLE The Media Relations Manager will help ONE achieve policy-changing objectives through media engagement across North America, with emphasis in the USA. They will develop communications products and narratives around priority issues for use by North America teams and collaborate with staff in similar roles across the organization. Requirements include a solid understanding of how media engagement can drive policy change, proven experience engaging media in the US and Canada, and the ability to convey complex issues clearly. Exposure to managing events, publications, and communications products is expected. Working with the Director of Communications, North America, they will support and execute ONE’s North America media and communications strategies, coordinating with ONE’s global communications staff as appropriate. IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL

Serve as a primary media liaison for ONE in the United States and Canada. Build and maintain relationships with elite media, reporters, and partners; pitch ONE’s narratives and priorities to NA print, broadcast, and online outlets. Secure media coverage for ONE’s issues in outlets with emphasis on the USA, supporting Canadian staff for key milestones and events. Monitor news and industry trends to inform strategy and content development. Produce and review media relations products and assist with broader communications materials. Assist in developing and executing social media strategies for ONE in America and Canada. Collaborate with NA teams to implement ONE’s NA strategy and craft narratives for campaigns, government relations, and policy activities. Advise on communications and media strategies for the North America Advocacy team. Promote and protect ONE’s reputation in North America and strengthen the organization’s global brand. Share best practices and messaging with the global communications community to ensure alignment across departments and regions. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications, North America. WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or related field (master’s degree preferred but not required). 8+ years in media, public relations, or journalism, with 3+ years in a leadership or project-lead role. Proven ability to leverage media relations to deliver policy change. Established network of relationships with key journalists and media outlets. Ability to synthesize complicated policy issues into digestible products. Experience with elite and popular media, as well as specialist and non-specialist audiences. Strong track record in developing and delivering effective media strategies. Significant experience speaking on the record and in risk/reputation management, including crisis communications. Understanding of evolving media landscape and different modern media formats. Experience working with political media in North America. Strong understanding of links between policy, advocacy, campaigning, and media work. Excellent written and verbal English; French is a plus. Excellent time management, forward-planning, and prioritization skills. Collaborative, team-oriented, and strong interpersonal skills. Advanced leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Ability to live and work in the United States and travel to Canada as required. OTHER ATTRIBUTES

Experience in poverty and infectious disease advocacy is a plus. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal skills. Analytical, action-oriented, and results-driven. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated. Remain positive under pressure and exercise good judgment. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Compensation:

$75,000 - $90,000 annual salary. This range reflects internal pay practices and may vary by factors such as experience and budget. French is an asset. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL Standard office and remote work environment. Reasonable accommodations available.
