Position Summary Berkshire is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Insurance Risk Manager to join the Enterprise Risk Management team. This role is responsible for managing and enhancing the company’s day-to-day insurance risk management program, with a strong focus on vendor risk, loss control, and claims management. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with hands-on experience in insurance, claim management and risk mitigation. Responsibilities

Vendor Risk Management – Property Operations

Manage and track vendor insurance requirements and compliance status using the company’s vendor compliance software. Work with Third Party Risk Consultant to review vendor contracts and determine adequate insurance requirements are met. Collaborate with procurement and legal teams to assess and mitigate third-party risks.

Loss Control

Lead the Property Operations Loss Control Task Force, including drafting an annual strategic plan, designing and implementing safety and loss control programs for all properties managed by Berkshire. Partner with insurance broker to coordinate site visits and conduct risk assessments. Collaborate with broker and Third-Party Risk Consultant to institute best-in-class loss control measures that align with industry standards and promote a proactive culture of risk mitigation. Partner with broker and Third-Party Risk Consultant to maintain accurate claims records and analyze trends to inform risk mitigation strategies. Identify and deliver training as needed.

Claims Management - Support and Coordination

Partner with Third Party Risk Consultant to manage all Berkshire lines of insurance, (from initial reporting to resolution) including but not limited to, general liability, auto, environmental, property, tenant discrimination, workers comp claims and E&O. Partner with the company’s insurance broker, Third Party Risk Consultant and applicable TPA to provide claim management and/or litigation support. Ensure compliance with the Company’s various claims manuals. Liaise with broker, adjusters, legal counsel, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient claims handling.

Risk Management Policies

Drive and maintain the company’s risk management and insurance policies. Partner with Third Party Risk Consultant to ensure policies remain current with Berkshire’s strategic plan, industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Provide training and guidance to internal teams on risk-related policies, as necessary.

Other Risk Management Responsibilities

Provide support on miscellaneous risk-related projects and initiatives. Manage and respond to all internal and external inquiries related to insurance and risk, including but not limited to, DDQs, RFPs and contract review. Partner with broker and Third-Party Risk Consultant to manage and oversee the insurance quoting process for new acquisitions. 25% business travel may be required.

Insurance Renewal Process

Partner with Third Party Risk Consultant to manage the annual insurance renewal process, including but not limited to data collection, application preparation and meeting coordination with broker and insurance carriers.

Knowledge/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in risk management or related field; ARM, CPCU, or similar designation preferred. 5+ years of experience in insurance risk management, preferably related to the real estate or property management industries. Strong knowledge of commercial insurance lines (property, liability, workers’ comp, etc.). Experience with vendor risk management and insurance claims management. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and communications of information. Develop productive working relationships with all team members, including JV partners, property managers, project managers and third parties. Demonstrated high level of ethics and integrity with a straightforward and honest approach. Technical/Educational Requirements

Demonstrated ability to use and learn new technology (e.g., computers/hardware, mobile, software, cloud-based programs). Proficiency with computers, keyboards, monitors and telephone headsets. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Products (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, Power Point).
