Job Description We are seeking a strategic and results-driven leader with a forward-thinking mindset, with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, political science, international affairs, public policy, or a related field, to join our Government Affairs team. The Senior Manager of U.S. Government Affairs will play a supporting role in executing CORE POWER’s government engagement strategy. This position focuses on managing relationships with U.S. government and policy community stakeholders, analyzing policy and regulatory developments, drafting legislative proposals, and supporting initiatives that promote the adoption of advanced nuclear technologies in the maritime sector. Key Responsibilities
Government Affairs & Stakeholder Engagement Manage relationships with congressional offices, federal agencies, and other government stakeholders. Represent CORE POWER in meetings, forums, and industry events as a senior representative. Assist in the development and execution of targeted advocacy campaigns on issues related to advanced nuclear energy, maritime innovation, and national security. Draft briefing materials, policy memos, legislative/regulatory/policy proposals, position statements, and engagement summaries for internal and external audiences. Provide day-to-day oversight of assigned lobbyists and other contractors as needed. Policy Monitoring & Strategic Input Track and interpret policy, regulatory, and legislative developments in the U.S. Provide timely insights and recommendations on emerging opportunities and risks. Coordinate with internal teams to align policy positions with business objectives. Support internal leadership in understanding the implications of government actions and proposed regulations. Partnerships & Coalitions Build and maintain strategic relationships with industry associations, think tanks, academia, and non-governmental organizations. Identify and pursue opportunities for public-private partnerships and federal funding programs. Collaborate with relevant partners to strengthen the company’s profile in Washington, D.C., and the broader policy ecosystem. Job Requirements
Develop working relationships with key officials and decision makers in the Legislative and Executive Branches to include the U.S. Congress, White House (e.g., Office of Science and Technology, Office of Management and Budget, and National Security Council), and U.S. government departments and agencies. Participate in CORE POWER’s congressional engagements, meeting with members, staff, committees, and caucuses to advocate for legislative and funding activities important to CORE POWER. Support the development and execution of CORE POWER’s broader government relations / lobbying campaigns. Manage the development of proactive forward-looking plans, focusing on the risk and opportunities from policy developments in the U.S. nuclear and maritime sectors, and in all areas relevant to the introduction of advanced nuclear technology in the maritime space. Develop advocacy strategies to engage regulators on key nuclear policy, maritime policy, and regulatory issues. Review geopolitical, economic, and policy trends on a global scale; identify potential risks and opportunities for CORE POWER and partners, providing actionable insights for informed decision-making. Provide insight to the VP of U.S. Government Affairs to integrate risk analysis into the organization’s strategic planning and to inform employees of changing strategy and policy trends. Articulate and communicate company positions and goals to political leaders and decision makers on public issues. Maintain positive, professional, and ethical relationships with political and career civil service authorities in line with CORE POWER’s values and mission. Assist the company in crisis management of issues with governmental involvement implications. Able to travel domestically as well as internationally. Skills & Qualifications
Education Bachelor’s degree in engineering, political science, international affairs, public policy, or a related field required. Master’s degree (e.g., MPP, MPA, JD, or energy/environmental policy) would be a plus. Work Experience 8–10 years of experience in U.S. government affairs, public policy, or regulatory advocacy. Demonstrated track record of engaging with Congress, federal agencies, or defence/maritime policy communities. Experience in or around the energy, nuclear, maritime, or national security sectors strongly preferred. Background in policy analysis, lobbying, coalition-building, or stakeholder engagement. Knowledge of U.S. and international maritime legislation. Ability to explain technical and operational realities clearly to non-industry stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive, proactive attitude. Strong influencing abilities and critical thinking skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for conveying ideas and feedback. Proficiency in creating engaging learning content and collaborating within a team. Positive and empathetic approach, with the ability to consider different perspectives. Strong work ethic and fairness. Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously. Behavior Thrives in a creative environment while maintaining progress; proactive and results-oriented. Adaptable, motivated, well-organised, and able to work with cross-functional teams.
