Role Summary Reporting to the Senior Vice President Global Design and Construction (GDC), the Vice President Construction Americas plays a key, senior role in the GDC organization driving strategy, policy, leadership, and direction for the design of all data center expansion projects across North and South America and LATAM.

Equally, the leader focuses on continuous improvement and innovation in construction management, always ensuring the industry’s best-in-class and sustainable solutions for customers.

Responsibilities

Overall leadership and strategy implementation

Set and optimize end-to-end design strategy, structure, and process for all projects globally

Adept at balancing intense short-term pressures with overall long-term strategy or goals

Analyze and direct the application of emerging industry best practices, tools, and methods to enhance product design solutions, working closely with internal stakeholders and stakeholders

Lead, structure, and develop a best-in-class team and process for design execution and innovation globally

Shape a collaborative, transparent, and entrepreneurial culture, in tandem with the corporate leadership team

Lead and motivate diverse teams around shared vision and change story in line with aggressive growth prospects

Support key construction programs and initiative implementation

Design decision-maker for GDC globally. Leads the formulation of standards and best practices for the design of all Equinix data centers – Retail and Hyperscale product sets

Leads and manages Innovation & Development, Master Planning/Concept Design, Standards, and Technical Review teams and efforts globally

Leads regional design teams to adopt and accommodate standards and best practices for design

Providing local knowledge and insight to key stakeholders

Collaborates with construction and procurement teams to effectively procure, install, and commission design solutions

Collaborates with operations teams to ensure design standards and best practices with their requirements

Nurtures regional design teams and the supporting supply chain on Equinix design standards and best practices

Identify opportunities for process improvement

Develops a roadmap for innovation, investigation of new products and services, and how they will be assimilated into standards

Evangelizes Equinix’s designs and core design philosophies such as reliability, safety, sustainability, and cost-efficiency with internal and external customers and suppliers

Develops and maintains support tools for the Design function globally

Provides master planning/concept designs as part of Equinix’s investment planning, review, and approval process

Thought leader and influencer within GDC

Oversees detailed technical review process with regional design leads to ensure that project designs meet the global design standards and business case requirements

Opines on proposed deviations to the standards or the requirements

Leads the productization effort for all Major Capital Equipment (MCE) incorporated in design solutions, working closely with the MCE procurement organization

Collaborates closely cross-functionally – Construction, Procurement, Operations, Sales, Product, Marketing, Corporate Development, etc. – to represent and develop all data center design requirements

Meets with customers to understand and incorporate requirements

Qualifications

Extensive experience (15+ years’) experience in driving construction project strategy and delivery in a high-tech environment across data centers, semiconductors, biopharma and/or gigafactories in North America either buy-side (in above sectors) or supply-side (contractors delivering to this client base)

Substantial track record of running similar-sized capex budgets (($X Billion/hundred millions) and span of projects (50+) and managing revenue or operating budgets for a global organization

Deep knowledge of the core construction critical facility design engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and control systems and of developing and applying design standard systems and processes

Proven success in engaging successfully with an extended international supply chain to deliver large-scale builds

Strong people management experience of driving results through their a similar-sized team (40+)

Experience in presenting to and collaborating with C/E-suite level colleagues

Deeply caring about technology, your craft, and the success of your team and the company

Ability to clearly translate complex technical information for your audience will understand

Ability to create, analyze, and evaluate management information to ensure time and accurate decision-making

Ability to work seamlessly in a global business environment spanning diverse geographies and cultures

Skills and attributes sought

United States - Seattle Office SES : 242,000 - 364,000 USD / Annual

United States - Redwood City Office GHQ : 250,000 - 374,000 USD / Annual

United States - Chicago Office CHO : 242,000 - 364,000 USD / Annual

United States - Washington DC Office : 242,000 - 364,000 USD / Annual

United States - Tampa Office TAO : 230,000 - 346,000 USD / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
