The Plumbing Designer will contribute to the design and delivery of plumbing systems across a variety of commercial building projects. In this role, you will be responsible for developing system layouts, performing essential engineering calculations, and ensuring designs comply with all applicable codes and standards. Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and support project managers by helping to keep projects on schedule and within budget. Contributions will include participating in design coordination meetings, conducting site visits, and ensuring the quality and accuracy of construction documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree and Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) credentials are preferred
Minimum of 4 years of experience designing plumbing systems for commercial offices, municipal/aviation, education, and healthcare facilities
Proficient in producing plumbing construction documents, including drawings, calculations, specifications, and cost estimates
Familiarity with construction administration tasks such as responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, conducting site visits, and evaluating change orders (preferred)
Solid understanding of applicable codes and standards, including the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and NFPA guidelines
Valid Texas Driver's License with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and the ability to pass a background check
Willingness to travel as required for project needs
Key Responsibilities
Design plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary drainage, stormwater, natural gas, lab/medical gas, vacuum systems, specialized waste systems, and fire protection performance specifications
Perform detailed system calculations such as pressure drop, pump sizing, fixture units, roof drainage, and water heater sizing
Collaborate with senior engineers and follow design standards to support coordinated, multidisciplinary design efforts
Assist project managers in tracking project progress and maintaining deadlines and budgets
Attend internal and external design meetings to support coordination and planning
Participate in field investigations and site visits to verify installation quality, document existing conditions, and ensure code compliance
Prepare meeting minutes and generate field observation reports as needed
Work closely with other business units and disciplines to ensure alignment on project deliverables and timelines
Perform additional duties and support special projects as assigned
