Aerospace Fabricator/Welder with GTAW

Job Purpose
Honda Aero, in Burlington, North Carolina, is looking for a team member who is a Fabricator with GTAW experience responsible for the fabrication and welding of aerospace sheet metal and casting engine components. Possesses the welding ability to certify to Aerospace Specifications for thin stainless, nickel based (Inconel), and other aerospace sheet metal. Key Accountabilities
Set-up and layout jobs using work instructions, diagrams and fixtures following procedures to fabricate and GTAW in all positions including the use of rotary turntables. • Sets up machines according to work instructions to trim, size, form, inspect, clean, and GTAW material to meet requirements. • Inspects, maintains and logs preventative maintenance on equipment needed for fabricating and welding. • Fabrication of shop aids and fixtures to assist fabrication and welding. • Quality checks using gauges, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc. • Weld evaluations for weld size, face and root reinforcement, cracks, inclusions, and porosity. • Must maintain internal skills matrix. • Must maintain HAI welding certifications. • Complies with internal quality system and regulatory requirements. • Lean Manufacturing, general housekeeping, work in a teaming environment, 5S and COP. • Cleans work area, tools, and equipment at end of shift. • Follow all business policies and procedures. • Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Educational Qualifications HS diploma or GED. Minimum Experience Minimum of 5 years of hands-on Fabrication and minimum of 5 years of hands-on GTAW experience, both preferably in the aerospace industry. Knowledge of super alloy processing preferred. AWS or equivalent certifications preferred, but not required. Other Job-Specific Skills Ability to work independently and take on new challenges and assignments. Good attention to detail and eye/hand coordination skills. Uses mathematical and reading skills. Interprets specifications, blueprints, and work instructions. Working Conditions
Climate-controlled production environment. Regular exposure to the manufacturing areas which under certain circumstances require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, mandatory hearing protection and safety shoes. Ability to frequently stand, walk, and sit as well as regular use of hands, fingers, and arms. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
